Early Victorian or possibly late Georgian hairwork mourning locket. On one side, a beautiful lock of hair with gold and pearl accents is displayed behind beveled glass, framed by a beautiful acanthus leaf border.
On the reverse, a black enamel border with the words "In Memory Of" surrounds a monogram, which may depict the letters "EL," although it is somewhat difficult to make out.
I love that this piece has the original jump ring, which matches the acanthus leaf frame of the locket. That is just such a lovely detail.
Gold tone base metal or perhaps a worn gold fill.

Some notable imperfections, namely to the black enamel. Some of the tiny gold accents behind the glass seem to have moved from their original place. See photos for best representation of condition.
