This is the only of these I've ever come across! A lovely Victorian wax seal, pipe tamper, or perhaps a paper weight, fashioned in the shape of a delicate hand.
I have seen the Victorian hand door knockers, paper clips, and paper weights, but this smaller version with flat circular base seems to lend itself to use either to pack tobacco into a pipe, or to seal letters with wax. If it is the latter, it was never engraved.
It is lovely in either case, and is perfect for a cabinet of curiosities, bookshelf, dressing table, or desk. The ring and bracelet are fabulous details. Really beautifully aged. I adore this piece and find it difficult to part with her!
