Incredible Romantic Era silk evening gown circa 1840s.
A lovely shade of champagne gold with darker gold stripes and fabulous fuchsia accents at the sleeves and neckline!
Light and airy silk. Bodice is lined, skirt is only lined at the hem. Piping around the bodice seams.
Hook and eye closures down the center back. Weighted waist in the front center to accentuate the elongated waistline.
Entirely hand sewn.
+++ Measurements +++
28" waist
36" bust
53.5" length
+++ Condition +++
Lovely, museum quality condition, especially considering her age. Some minor wear to note:
- Bodice lining is coming apart in a few places, as shown
- Some wear and discoloration around the hem
- A few scattered small holes in the bodice and skirt
- Some tearing/wear along the back closure seam
- Faint underarm discoloration
Overall this is a stunningly well preserved gown. Due to age it should not be worn. It would be a fantastic study and display piece.
