A rare and beautiful steel chatelaine circa turn of the 18th/19th centuries, Georgian or early Victorian period. This piece would have been worn at the waist by a lady of the house to conveniently carry items for daily use.
On it, we find:
A small mesh purse with a thimble inside. The thimble may not be original to the era, as to me it looks a bit later.
A horseshoe shaped pincushion.
Steel folding knife.
Oval pincushion.
Sewing kit, steel on the outside, which unfolds to reveal a leather interior in impeccable condition, with threads still intact!
Small "notebook" with three bone pages for jotting down quick notes.
Large split ring holding what seem to be two implements for marking or writing. I am unsure what the black material is, and the telescoping implement has a sharp pointed end, perhaps for dipping in ink or scratching notes onto a surface. It does not appear to hold lead/be a pencil.
The clip is a beautiful one, and looks like an upside down heart!

Good overall condition for it's age with some expected wear. Some chipping to the "pages" of the small notebook, some patina on the steel, some wear to the pin cushions, etc. Please see the photos for the best report of condition.
