What a show stopper! This incredible long tailed bodice is just about the most wonderful piece I have ever seen.
Circa 1880s, it is fitted throughout the bodice portion and short at the front, but it extends all the way to the floor at the sides and back, with silk fringe at the hem.
The clipped velvet is such a lovely shade of brown ochre. Bustled back. Boned bodice with covered button closures down the center front.
Imagine the original wearer of this piece! A very special and one of a kind piece, excellent for study or display.

+++ Condition +++
Lovely condition overall with some minor age-related wear. Some repairs around the buttonholes, some broken or missing boning, a few tiny holes in the lining, etc. Quite good for her age and strong, but still likely best for study or display. Possibly wearable with extra care for a photo shoot.
