I cannot get over how adorable this 1870s silk taffeta bodice is! Incredibly, she is complete with all buttons and bows intact.
She has the cutest tails in the back with rows of more bows. The original color was likely not quite so brown/orange, but the discoloration is fairly uniform, so she still presents beautifully.
Lined with cotton and boned all around. Padded in the bust and underarms. Buttons down the center front.
It appears as though a couple of the seams were let out (historically, not recently).
A really beautiful piece, perfect for study but also wonderful for display!
+++ Measurements +++
32" bust
23" waist
25" front length
30" back length with tails
+++ Condition +++
Great condition for her age but best for study or display due to age and fragile nature of the silk taffeta. General wear from age with some of the flaws noted below:
- Discoloration throughout
- Some small splits/tears in the silk
- Place on one shoulder that looks like a piece of tape was removed
- Boning peeking out from one of the channels
Overall good condition for such an old piece, and intact with all buttons and bows!
In my opinion this is not a wearable piece, as the silk taffeta would be at risk of being damaged.
