This is a really lovely dress circa 1920 in an inky black silk with white collar.
Attached belt and snap closures up the front. Fitted sleeves with snap closures at the cuffs. Beautiful decorative black glass beaded buttons on sleeves and front of dress. Pleats on either side of the skirt.
The dress seems to have been very finely made.
+++ Measurements +++
Meant to be worn a bit loose, so leave a couple of inches of space:
Up to 40" bust
14" between shoulder seams
21" sleeve length
+++ Condition +++
Very good condition overall for her age with some flaws to note:
- Small hole in the right shoulder
- Some loose stitching around the collar
- A bit of verdigris on some of the snaps
- Some minor bead loss to the buttons
- The belt has come apart some in the back, as shown (could be tacked back together with a few stitches)
This piece is wearable with extra care. The silk seems to be strong still, but with older silk it can still rip under stress. Most of the stitching/seams seems sturdy, but in a few places the threads are showing some signs of deterioration.
