This beautiful necklace is unlike anything I've seen before! It is a tortoise shell heart inlaid with a silver owl sitting on a branch. It dates from the mid-late 19th century and hangs on a more modern sterling silver chain.
Owls have long been associated with wisdom, and although they are somewhat rare and difficult to find now, they were a beloved motif in Victorian era jewelry (who loved their symbolism!).
A truly special piece that would make a wonderful gift.

Lovely condition with some minor age-related wear. A few faint marks on the tortoise shell and a tiny nibble on the right side of the heart (barely noticeable except on close inspection).
