Beautiful sterling silver and Montrose agate brooch and pendant circa mid-19th century.

Lovely floraform design with beautiful stones in shades of grey with a bluish tint. These agates come from the Montrose area on the eastern side of Scotland.

During the Victorian era, Scottish agate jewelry became extremely popular due to Queen Victoria's love of all things Scottish.

Unmarked but tests as sterling silver.

+++ Measurements +++

Approx 2" diameter

+++ Condition +++

Lovely condition with minor wear from age, some minor surface marks and dents on the back side that do not detract from the overall appearance of this beautiful piece.

The original c-clasp has since been replaced with a safety clasp, likely sometime around the 1930s-1940s.
