A beautiful 19th c. paisley shawl with a special story!
Here's an excerpt from the note that came attached:
My mother's "French" shawl she brought over with many other things from Denmark. I used it once to a Masquerade ball in Clear Lake Iowa in the Odd Fellow Hall of the Danish Brotherhood annual Masquerade Ball around New Years - Dressed as an old lady with knitting - took first prize -
Had lots of fun masquerading & dancing!!

The note goes on to give specific names and dates. Unfortunately I could not make out the names very well. The father's name appears to be Soren Jensen, but I could not read the last name. Perhaps someone with more knowledge of Danish names would have better luck.
The father of the original owner came to America in 1911, the mother and daughters coming over afterwards.
Such a special piece of history with a lovely story. I'm so happy it will continue to be preserved!
