This fabulous net lace and silk dress dates from around 1916. It is made up of bobbinet lace, some of it embroidered with a beautiful floral and spiderweb-like design, and trimmed with silk.
A stand up collar has a bendable wire along the edge, and there are decorative silk covered buttons down the center front.
As with most 19-teens era dresses, there are a plethora of different clasps and closures, including hook and eye, hook and thread, and snaps to secure the waist, bodice, and skirt openings.
The front hems (both upper and lower) are weighted, and there are three net lace layers.
This is a gorgeous piece!
+++ Measurements +++
36" bust
30" waist
58" length
+++ Condition +++
Overall good condition with some flaws to note:
- The color has darkened with age and there are some larger stains, mostly on the lower layer of the skirt, but a few small ones elsewhere
- A few very small snags in the lace, pea sized or smaller
Sturdy for her age and wearable with care. Also fabulous for study or display!
