Fashioned in 18k gold with black enamel, amethyst, and pearls, this ring dates from 1756 and was created to mourn the loss of Martha Gurney, who died on the 29th of May at the age of 51.

It is a beautiful example of a mourning ring from the mid 18th century, with an incredibly detailed band, engraved with Martha's name, date of death, and age. I love the design and hand crafted elements, especially the back side of the stone setting, which is something not seen when worn, but exquisite nonetheless.

The antique box is not included but this ring will be packaged with a black velvet ring box.

+++ Measurements +++

US ring size 8 and not resizable do to the design of the band.

+++ Condition +++

Lovely condition overall for her age! Some minor wear to the amethyst stone and some enamel loss on the band, but she looks really amazing for being over 250 years old!
