Incredible, rare sterling silver brooch featuring an intricate spider and spider web design in a branch. It is so beautifully detailed and realistic and includes a tiny butterfly caught in the web.
I have never seen one so lovely except in antique catalogs. This one dates from around the 1890s.
The spider web and branch are in sterling silver (unmarked, tested). The spider herself is a slightly different hue, and appears to be perhaps a lower purity silver or gilt (I have not tested the spider piece as I did not want to damage her).
A truly amazing piece for your collection.
