Beautiful black silk and lace collar circa 1890s-1900s.
Collars and chemisettes were a sensible addition to any lady's wardrobe during this era.
A lady could easily change the look of a single dress with several different collars or chemisettes. These would also cover the décolletage (a woman's neck, shoulders, and bust), taking an evening look to a day look.
