A beautiful mid-1800s dress in a lovely rust orange-brown, circa 1850s-1860s.
The fabric and style lead me to believe it was a house dress or work dress, but the weave of the fabric is a little fancy, so I'm not entirely certain.
It is a medium weight soft wool or wool blend.
Hook and eye closures down the front of the bodice.
Hand and machine sewn.
+++ Measurements +++
36" bust, 30" waist, 54" total length.
+++ Condition +++
Some wear and holes to both underarms and a small hole in the skirt.
Someone has sewn the dress closed from the waist down, likely for display. Most of the photos show the dress pinned to the dress form (using two stick pins at the waist). Please look at all of the photos to see how it looks without the pins in place.
Shown with a petticoat, which is not included. If purchasing for display, it looks best with a petticoat.
I have not cleaned this dress, and although I have aired it out, it may have a faint odor of mothballs.
