Early Victorian era rolled gold heart locket circa 1840s with glass frame inside, likely to hold a lock of hair. It fits snugly into the frame, but it is removable with care for you to add your own memento (I was able to do so with a stiff pin).
The engraving on the front is difficult to decipher, but I think it looks like a "K" or "H"
What I especially love about this locket is that the hinge is on the top, so it opens up from the bottom. It's just a little detail that I find makes this piece special.
Chain not included in this listing.
