This beautiful and unusual book pendant was carved from jade and is encircled by a 14k gold band with a buckle motif.
I love this motif in Victorian jewelry! The belt / buckle can symbolize strength, fidelity, loyalty, and eternity.
Circa mid to late 19th century, it is unmarked but tests as 14k gold.
I have never seen anything quite like it!

Lovely condition with minor age-related wear. Some surface wear to the gold band. Jade stone is in great condition with minimal age-related wear. Tiny nick in the top of the spine of the book, but this is not at all noticeable.
