Beautiful moire silk bodice circa early 1900s with a maker's label inside that reads:
Mrs. Council
Modiste
I found a mention of this Mrs. Council in a 1901 issue of The San Bernardino County Sun, and I have included the clipping in the photos :)
This is a beautiful bodice and well made. It would have originally had a collar insert, which is now missing.
+++ Measurements +++
35" bust
26" waist
17" length in front
15" length in back
+++ Condition +++
Good overall condition with some underarm discoloration and weakness in the fabric there also. A small water spot on the front. Some stains and a couple of small stains in the cotton lining.
All closures present. Missing original collar.
Likely best for study or display but would be wearable with extra care.
