Very sweet double heart Mizpah brooch in 9k gold circa early 1900s.
Safety chain with a safety pin featuring a lovely little bow!
Mizpah jewelry became popular during the Victorian era and was often given to a loved one who was going to be absent, as a token of remembrance and emotional connection, similar to forget-me-not jewelry.
The word Mizpah is taken from the Bible (Genesis 31:49, “And Mizpah; for he said, The Lord watch between me and thee, when we are absent from one another”) and means “watchtower” in Hebrew.
