Before the days of sunglasses, there were tinted glasses, believed by some to improve vision, but also worn for the sake of fashion by others. Some were worn as eye protection from the elements.
These gorgeous blue tinted eyeglasses date from between 1835-1880. They have brass frames with extending arms ("loop slide" side arms) and octagonal lenses.
They are marked "Schweizer" on on arm.
+++ Measurements +++
They measure approximately 4.5" wide across the front.
+++ Condition +++
Overall very good condition for their age with minor patina to the frames. The lenses are in good shape with some minor wear.
The glass isn't quite the same shape as the frames, so there are some small gaps, but they do not seem loose.
These are wearable with care at your own risk (the lenses are made of glass, and therefore do not meet modern safety regulations).
