A wonderfully unique handmade dress in inky black silk, circa 1930s. Some really fabulous details and elements make this dress so special!
I really love the wavy motif, which is echoed on the bodice and sleeves. Snap closures open at the side/front of the bodice, down to the waist and the skirt. The belt is attached and has snap closures as well on one side.
Snap closures at the cuffs, which are fitted below a sleeve that bells out slightly below the elbow. Sleeves are lined with net lace.
The skirt has double box pleats, flaring it out a bit past the knees.
This piece is both machine and hand sewn and obviously a lot of care went into making her.
Truly a one of a kind piece!
+++ Measurements +++
Likely best for an extra small to small, this dress is not meant to be worn tightly:
34" bust
29" waist
40" hip
12.5" between shoulder seams
44" length
+++ Condition +++
Lovely condition overall, free from odors, and wearable with care.
A few minor flaws to note (all shown in photos):
- Some small marks on the skirt which may be stains or could just be dirt, I have not washed this piece
- Tiny hole on one lapel
- Some fading to the sleeves
- Slight seam separations in both underarms, could be left as is or easily repaired if desired
