This lovely dress is a museum deaccession from the Newark Museum dating from the mid 1920s (around 1925).

Loose-fitting, sheer taupe chiffon and ecru lace (would have been worn with a slip).

Boat neck collar and short, cuffed sleeves. It is cut straight, essentially two rectangular panels sewn together, and goes on over the head, there are no closures.

Two pleated panels hang from the waist and a vertical row of decorative buttons embellish the bodice.

There is a museum identification tag sewn into the inside of the collar. Included is the information card from the museum.

+++ Measurements +++

It measures 22" across from the chest all the way down and 47.5" long

+++ Condition +++

Very nice condition overall, this is a well-preserved piece. There are is some minor wear to the lace, which has darkened some with age and has a few scattered pinhead sized holes. There is a small stain on the underside of the collar, which cannot be seen when worn.

This dress would be wearable with extra care.
