Gorgeous white cotton lingerie dress circa 1900s.
These lovely dresses, often mis-labeled now as "tea dresses" were called lingerie dresses or lingerie gowns during the era due to the fine cottons and lace used to make them.
You will also see these dresses called "lawn" dresses, which isn't necessarily incorrect. Lawn is a type of smooth, high thread count cotton (it has nothing to do with parading about a lawn at a garden party).
This particular dress doesn't have quite as smooth of a texture as a dress made of cotton lawn.
Pintucks galore! And beautiful insertion lace.
Hidden button and hook and eye closures down the back.
+++ Measurements +++
32" bust
Up to 23" waist (snug)
54" length
+++ Condition +++
Overall good antique condition with some flaws to note:
- Several scattered small holes and a couple of small mends
- Several faint stains, barely visible, may come out with a soak
- A few small lace breaks, as shown
- Missing one button
Wearable with care and would also make a lovely study/display piece.
