This lovely black silk wrapper or tea gown circa late 1890s is beautiful and imperfect, due to her age she is best as a study or display piece.
Inner bodice of cotton with button closures. Hook and eye closures on the outer gown from waist to collar. Grosgrain ribbon tie at the waist.
If I ever start sewing, a tea gown is going to be my first project. I imagine lounging around in one of these, drinking tea in the parlor (I'll need to get a parlor), draped across a chaise longue (also need to procure).
She has a stunning watteau back and train!
+++ Measurements +++
32" bust
26" waist
53.5" long in front
65" long in back
+++ Condition +++
Fair to good condition with some flaws to note:
- Several small holes throughout, from pinhead size to golf ball size
- Tearing/significant wear at the hem
- Split in one sleeve seam
- Wear around the collar and cuffs
- Missing one button at the inner bodice closures
- Missing some hook and eye closures on the bodice
Best for study or display. Would be wearable with extra care for a photoshoot.
