A very charming and unusual Victorian era gold beetle with a textured body and the cutest little face! The design appears to be depict a whirligig beetle.
The setting/body of the beetle tests as 14k gold and the legs and antennae test as 10k gold. The pin is made of steel. This piece is unmarked.
I am uncertain what the black body of the beetle is made from. It is a fairly lightweight material and does not feel like stone. It leaves a brown mark on unglazed porcelain and not not leave any marks on paper. A very unique piece!!
Box is not included.

Lovely condition overall. Some light scratches on the back where someone likely tested the gold content of the piece. These are not seen when worn.
