Fabulous sterling silver Victorian Scottish agate brooch, circa mid-19th century.
I love the design of this piece, with the very detailed engraving in the silver and a large decorative buckle, which was a popular motif in the 19th century.
During the Victorian era, Scottish hardstone jewelry became extremely popular due to Queen Victoria's love of all things Scottish.
Unmarked but tests as sterling silver.
