I have never seen a filigree piece like this! The workmanship is incredible, and the details are so unique, creating a lovely effect in the textures of the hand, cuffs, and flowers.
Hands were a very important symbol for Victorians and can be seen in everything from jewelry to calling cards, paperweights, door knockers, vases, and more.
A hand holding flowers, like this brooch, would represent devotion, love, and friendship.
Circa late 19th century, 1880s-1890s. Unmarked but tested as silver.
