Incredible, detailed "Green Man" earrings that have been converted from a pair of c. 1900s cufflinks. He has fabulous little red glass cabochon eyes.
The Green Man, also known as a foliate head, is often interpreted as a symbol of new life or new beginnings, as we see in the cycle of new growth at the beginning of spring. The Green Man has been associated with many figures in folklore, including Peter Pan, Robin Hood, Green Knight, and gods such as Cernunnos and Pan.
Maker's mark Link & Angel (1900-1915). Marked sterling.
