Beautiful pair of gold filled bracelets circa 1880s. A unique stretch design that expands to fit a range of wrist sizes.

On each bracelet, there is an ornately framed depiction of a heron (or possibly another water bird such as an egret or crane) in green, pink, and yellow gold.

It is very unusual to find a pair of bracelets still together and in such fine condition, and even more special to find such a unique design. I have never seen anything quite like these before!

Herons are symbols in many cultures throughout time, with a variety of different meanings, though they are commonly associated with the otherworld and the gods, and are often seen as messengers.

Marked with a patent date of June 19, 1883 (PAT. JUNE 19, 83)
