Beautiful 14k gold engraved ring. The letters HE are engraved on the outside. On the inside is the inscription "remember the giver" along with the date 1804.
Rings with this kind of inscription are often referred to as "posy" rings, from the French "poesie" meaning poetry or verse, for the short phrases engraved on them.
These were often given as gifts to lovers or friends, and there are examples dating back to the 1300s. Messages on these older pieces were often in Latin, French, or old English.
This sentimental piece would be a wonderful gift. Ring box is for display purposes only, but contact me if you would like to purchase one to accompany it!
