Gorgeous Art Deco rhodium plated "camphor glass" necklace.
The signature "frosted" finish of camphor glass is achieved by treating the glass with hydrofluoric acid vapors.
The name "camphor glass," comes from the resulting appearance that resembles gum camphor, which has many uses, but was the earliest recorded use was in Hinduism as a burnt offering to deities.
However, the frosted appearance is meant to mimic the appearance of rock crystal, which when cut, has a similar look.
