Wonderful, unique carved shell cameo depicting an unusual carving of the goddess Diana or Artemis, goddess of the hunt.
This is an unusual depiction for a cameo, as typically you will only see the bust, and with Diana / Artemis, there will be a crescent moon on the forehead to identify her. But with this one, almost the full body is visible, and she holds a bow in one hand and has arrows on her back. There is also a small crescent moon visible on her forehead.
This piece is wearable as a brooch or as a pedant, with a bail that has been added to the top. The frame is gold plated or gold filled brass.
