Gorgeous black faux seal plush coat circa late 1910s to 1920s with a wide collar.
This fabulous coat is made to resemble seal coats. Typically "seal plush" is silk, but this feels like it may be a cotton or perhaps rayon. The lining is a cotton or cotton blend.
Two deep pockets on the outside of the coat and one deep pocket in the lining (this appears to have been added later and is made from a different fabric).
Large fuzzy side closing buttons, four at the waist and one at the collar. There is an additional celluloid button higher up on the collar also that seems to have been added for a tighter fit at the neck. Three smaller fuzzy buttons can secure the collar to be worn higher on the neck. Collar can also be worn open.
An outstanding coat!
