Gorgeous gold silk damask bodice circa 1840s with beautiful pleating and fringe.
Long, fitted sleeves that fasten at the cuffs with hook and thread closures. Bodice fastens down the center back with hooks and eyes.
Bodice is padded in the bust. Lined with polished cotton. Wide neckline. This piece would have likely been worn for evening social gatherings with a matching skirt.
The fabric is truly stunning. The intricate detailing features a geometric pattern overlaid with flowers.
Hand sewn.

+++ Condition +++
Lovely condition overall for her age with some minor age-related wear and flaws to note:
- A few faint stains and some discoloration inside the lining of neckline/underarms
- Some loose hooks/eyes
- Small seam separations at the neckline and back of one arm
Likely best for study or display, but would be wearable with extra care for a photoshoot.
