An adorable mid-1890s bodice with the cutest bows in the back and wonderful gigot or leg of mutton sleeves.
Hook and eye closures up the front hidden beneath another fabric panel. There is a small hidden pocket watch pocket beneath the front panel.
Hooks inside the bodice to attach a skirt.
This piece has quite a bit of hand sewn details!
One boning channel down the center back of the lining. There is a subtle pattern to the fabric, which is a very soft cotton or cotton blend. I believe this would be considered a jacquard fabric.
+++ Measurements +++
Measurements taken with garment laid flat, double where appropriate:
14.25" across waist
17" armpit to armpit
15" length
+++ Condition +++
Over all good condition for her age with some minor flaws to note. There is a small hole in one armpit, some stains in the lining, a few loose threads, some small holes on the sleeves, and a hole/wear on the collar.
This piece is a soft cotton/blend and strong enough to wear with care, though I would not recommend it for regular use due to age. It would also be a fantastic study piece for pattern making or for display.
