Gorgeous side buttons boots by W.L. Douglas, circa early 1910s.
I love the pointed "bat wing" motif on these!
Likely a men's shoe originally, but I have give an approximate women's equivalent size.
This brand advertised A LOT. I found hundreds, if not thousands, of their advertisements in the newspaper archives and I've included an image of one from 1913 in the photos of this listing.
+++ Measurements +++
Sizing on boots is always approximate, and I urge you to take careful measurements and ask any questions prior to purchasing.
These seem to be an approximate size 7.5-8 US women's, but please check the following measurements. I wear a size 7.5 and they fit me.
9 3/4" inner sole length
3 5/8" width measured across the bottom of the sole at the ball of the foot, and 9 1/5" circumference at the same spot measured from the outside (at the first button).
6" total height, 1 3/8" heel.
9" circumference at the top opening.
+++ Condition +++
Great condition overall with some minor age-related wear. Leather is a little stiff but doesn't appear to be overly dry or have any cracking.
The metal shanks of the buttons have some rust.
They are wearable with care but please be aware they are antique boots. I highly recommend finding a cobbler you trust who can do maintenance and repairs on your shoes. It is usually very affordable and will extend the lifetime of your shoes by so much!
