Maker is Alexander and Co. Shoe Store in Wheeling, West Virginia.

From the Ohio County Public Library website:

Alexander and Co. Shoe Store was opened by Seaton Alexander, November 23, 1889. Alexander started in the shoe business at the age of fourteen and had seven years experience in that business before he located in Wheeling in 1881. After settling in Wheeling he worked for the J. H. Locke Shoe Company for a period of eight years. In November 1889, he engaged in business for himself under the firm name of Alexander & Company, being associated with the Vance Shoe Company until 1899. At that time he took George J. Mathison into partnership, doing business at No. 1049 Main street.

The Alexander & Co. Shoe Store is listed in the Wheeling City Directories through 1964.

+++ Measurements +++

Sizing on boots is always approximate, and I urge you to take careful measurements and ask any questions prior to purchasing.

I believe these are an approximate size 7.5-8 (NARROW) US women's (I wear a 7.5 and I can get them on but they are too narrow for me), but please check the following measurements.

10 7/8" inner sole length (keep in mind the pointed toe)

3" width measured across the bottom of the sole at the ball of the foot, and 9 1/4" circumference at the same spot measured from the outside

2 3/4" heel

10 7/8" total height

+++ Condition +++

Though they show signs of wear, they are still in great condition overall.

Scuffs/wear to the leather, which is still somewhat soft and supple. A few wear spots/moth nibbles to the wool uppers. Leather color has some significant fading. Inner leather around the tops is flaking some.

These are wearable with care, but do keep in mind they are antiques. I highly suggest finding a good cobbler. It is usually quite affordable to have repairs done.

These boots were made to last a lifetime, and with the proper care and repairs when needed, they will!
