Really lovely raspberry red leather boots circa 1890s by the maker John Kelly of Rochester, New York.
These do appear to be an original, unique color (not something dyed later), and they are such an unusual and beautiful color to find!
Check the photos to see a clipping from an 1897 newspaper showing an advertisement for this brand and a style very similar to these.
+++ Measurements +++
Although these are likely best for study or display, they would be wearable with extra care for something like a photo shoot. However they are quite small, probably around a modern US women's size 4.
8 3/4" insole length, but keep in mind the very pointed toe
2 1/2" wide, measured across the bottom at the ball of the foot
8 1/4" circumference, measured around the outside at the ball of the foot
1 1/8" heel
7" total height
+++ Condition +++
Lovely condition overall for their age with some minor wear. Likely best for study or display due to age, but wearable with extra care for something like a photo shoot, but I would not recommend them for anything more.
Some dryness and tearing to the leather ankle lining and some stains / discoloration to the outer dye. Some of the back seam stitching is deteriorated / missing.
