These deadstock boots, or "bluchers" as I have seen them called, date from the late teens or early 20s
Made by Hamilton Shoe Co., and marked "Commodore" on the soles. The heels are marked "Revere."
+++ Measurements +++
These were likely a men's shoe originally, but I have estimated the size based on a US women's size and my own foot. I estimate these to be 7.5-8 because I wear a 7.5 and these would work for me with a little room to spare (I can’t stand anything tight on my feet).
However, I know the measurements read a bit large on these. I think it is due to the fact that the leather is somewhat stiff and they were not ever "broken in."
So even though I always recommend that people refer to the measurements, in this case I think they could potentially be misleading.
To my best estimation (and according to someone who wears a size 9), these will not fit any larger than a size 8.5, and might be better for a 7.5-8.
10.5" inner sole length. 3.5" inner sole width at the ball of the foot.
+++ Condition +++
These boots are in great condition. They have minor scuffing on the soles, mostly from me wearing them around the studio trying to talk myself out of keeping them, and some minor wear from storage.
The leather is a little stiff, but I have been conditioning it, and it does not feel brittle.
