A wonderful Mauchline ware wooden heart pin holder circa mid-late 19th century. Mauchline ware was made in the town of Mauchline, Scotland for export around the UK.
These pieces included a variety of small souvenirs featuring transfers that depicted the locations where they were exported and sold.
A Victorian diecut Krampus has been added to the piece, covering the original transfer. It was this way when I purchased it in an antique shop in Scotland, so it's possible (and I'd like to think) this was done by the original owner who wanted to add a bit of character to their pincushion!
Several pins still present.
Box is not included.
