A very special Georgian era, early 19th century wallet fashioned in steel and shell with a pink silk and kid leather lining.
I love the little cut steel crescents on the outside! But the most special part of this wallet is its clasp! It is a figural hand made of steel. I've never seen one like it, and it is fabulous!
Inside the wallet are multiple partitioned pockets and one pocket with an additional clasp, which also functions well.
An incredible piece and one of a kind.
+++ Measurements +++
3 1/4" x 2 1/8" x 3/4"
+++ Condition +++
Good condition for her age overall with some flaws to note:
- Some slight discoloration on the shell from the steel and some patina on the steel
- The wallet is meant to expand/accordion out some on the sides, but there is also some partial separation of the shell panels from the fabric
- A small hole in the silk in one of the creases
Please see the photos for the flaws. This wallet is still usable with extra care, but keep in mind it is about 200 years old!
