Incredibly cool and unique handmade wooden box circa early 20th century, featuring a horned devil's head on top. The head is some kind of celluloid or plastic and it is hollow inside, which gives it a wonderful glowing quality when lit from surrounding light sources.

The box also features some hand carved elements on the top, sides, and back, reminiscent of so-called "tramp art" from the time period.

The top is hinged and has two clasps to keep it closed. Inside there are three compartments, great for holding small treasures.

I am not an expert in wood types, but my guess would be that it is some kind of oak. It has fantastic patina and will look stunning on your mantle.

+++ Measurements +++

Approx 10 1/4" tall from base to top of devil's head

6 1/2" long

4" front to back

Each compartment measures approximately 2 3/8" x 2 5/8"

+++ Condition +++

Good antique condition with some notable wear. One of the devil's horns appears to be chipped. The wood shows signs of aging throughout. One clasp is a bit more difficult to close than the other, but it does fasten. Some pencil writings on the inside of the lid. Various other age-related signs of wear, see photos please!
