Lovely tortoise shell pince nez glasses in a leather case c. 1880s-1890s.
These glasses seem to make things a bit smaller in my own vision, so they are not magnifiers. A cord is attached to the glasses so they can be worn around the neck.
The case reads:
J. Gall Co
Patent
Achromatic Spectacles
21 Union Square, N.Y.
The glasses sit on the bridge of the nose (pince nez means pinch nose) and fold up nicely for storage when not in use.
+++ Measurements +++
Each lens measures approximately 1 3/8" across.
The leather case measures 2 5/8" x 1 7/8"
+++ Condition +++
Lovely condition overall with minor age-related wear and patina. The glasses are in excellent condition.
