One of the most spectacular dresses I have come across recently! It has a maker label: "Dress & Costume Makers, William Robb & Son, 2,4,&6 Fore Street, Hexham"

There are hook and eye closures from the waist up the front of the bodice and snaps from the waist part way down the front of the skirt.

I love the small details of this dress, like the tiny beads trimming the collar and the beaded net lace running down both sides of the front of the skirt.

Black lace drapes the front and back of the dress, crisscrossing the back of the bodice and draping loose around the arms in the front.

The three-quarter length sleeves are slightly belled. There is a bead trimmed strip down the center of the back of the skirt.

An attached belt has three hook and thread closures on the front.

+++ Measurements +++

Measurements taken with garment laid flat. Double for bust, waist, and hip:

  • 19" armpit to armpit
  • 14" across waist
  • 22.5" max hip
  • 55" total length

+++ Condition +++

Condition overall is good with some wear (see photos):

  • Missing two eye closures from the front of the collar where they were torn out
  • Some shattering of the lining around the label
  • Some small holes in the back of the skirt (see photo)
  • A few scattered pinhead size holes
  • A few small lace breaks in the black bodice lace
  • The fabric at the bottom of the skirt in the fold of the hem is worn

The net lace is in surprisingly good condition.

Wearable with care. The black taffeta is not shattering.
